Efficiency Energy is dedicated to the idea that energy efficient buildings make environmental and economic sense. We specialize in managing and maximizing the value of financial incentives to help efficiency projects pay for themselves.
We are based in Washington, DC and Denver, CO and serve as 179D EP Act Coordinator to state and local municipal governments, school districts, airport and port authorities, and public institutions of higher learning. The Efficiency Energy team comprises accountants, engineers, project and facility managers, public finance and legal personnel whose individual backgrounds are included below.
Management:
Richard Juday - Chief Executive Officer
Rick has overseen Efficiency Energy's successful work for public entity clients administering 179D allocation and monetization in addition to EE's project management practice. With over 35 years’ experience as a public finance professional and fixed income institutional salesman Mr. Juday has held senior executive positions at DLJ/Credit Suisse, First Southwest Company and Wachovia Bank as Senior Banker or Placement sales executive for over $8 Billion in municipal bond underwritings. Mr. Juday graduated with a BSBA in Finance from the University of Florida.
William Volker – President
While earning a Masters of Science in Accountancy at Wake Forest University, Volker concentrated on Tax Accounting and performed his Independent Study on the implementation of Energy Efficient Commercial Building Property Deductions from the 2005 Energy Policy Act. His research formed the basis of the Efficiency Energy business model and continues to set the company apart for its singular expertise in project certification and compliance per IRS guidelines. He continually studies emerging legislation, financing, incentives and technologies to integrate with future projects. Mr. Volker is a CPA .
Matthew Juday - Board Secretary
Matt has been with Efficiency Energy since 2013, specializing in 179D monetization among EE's municipal, public housing, K-12, and higher education clients. Prior to joining EE, Mr. Juday was a Financial Consultant with TIAA-CREF dealing with various investment vehicles and retirement plans. He also spent time as a Valuation Specialist concerning residential real estate with Integrated Asset Services. Matt Juday received his Bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences from the University of Florida, as well as a graduate degree in Finance from the University of Colorado.
Board of Directors:
Bob Hartnett is the President and CEO of the Transportation and Expressway Authority Membership of Florida (TEAMFL), which he founded in 1997 to join Florida’s Expressway Authorities and Florida’s Turnpike with other related agencies and businesses to share information and exchange ideas. He previously served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, during which time he chaired the Banking & Finance Committee for three terms. In the government arena, he has represented various entities such as the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority, Lynx, Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, as well as cities such as Coral Gables and Winter Park, and has served as a volunteer on many boards and committees. Bob received his BBA degree in Political Science from the University of Miami. He also holds a Real Estate Broker’s License.
Gordon Yale is the principal of Yale & Company, a Denver-based forensic accounting and financial consulting firm that specializes in securities fraud and audit negligence matters and the founder of Yale Group, Inc., a boutique investment banking firm. Mr. Yale is a former securities analyst, has served as a special investigative consultant to the Securities and Exchange Commission and other government entities and as an expert in many civil matters. Mr. Yale has arranged or participated in the arrangement of debt or equity financings of approximately $800 million and has written frequently for both business publications and professional journals. Mr. Yale is a CPA.
Laura Christman is admitted to practice law in Colorado and Washington State specializing in commercial real estate and public-private partnerships. Laura received her law degree in 1978 from The College of William and Mary, Marshall Wythe School of Law. Ms. Christman began practicing law at The Prudential Insurance Company of America and later practiced for over 20 years with Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber, Schrek LLP in Denver, Colorado.
Michael Nail is the President and CEO of Enlightened Enterprises, Inc. specializing energy efficiency and operational solutions, including energy performance contracting consulting, to public sector clients, such as Public Housing Authorities. The company has been involved in more than $250 million in successful energy projects. Mr. Nail is a graduate of Kansas University and was the past Deputy Executive Director/COO of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), the nation's largest affordable housing association with over 20,000 members. He is a nationally known energy and affordable housing expert and has been involved in numerous ventures and initiatives designed to enhance the quality of life for the nation's low and moderate income population. Mr. Nail was a Vietnam era Naval Officer and is married to Marjorie Scovel Nail, who is the co-founder of Enlightened Enterprises.
