As important to good design in any energy efficient retrofit is competent incentive management. State and local utility rebates; federal grants/tax incentives; and emissions offsets may all be applicable to your projects.

Tax Benefits

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (and amended by the 2008 Energy and Tax Extenders Act) provides the Energy Efficient Building Property Deduction. This accelerated depreciation incentive includes 100% of project costs related to certain energy efficient retrofits. The incentive is annually capped at $1.80/sqft split evenly between the three building systems: $.60/sq.ft. for lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), and body/envelope (roof, windows, insulation).

We obtain and provide 3rd party certification as well as valuation/monetization services to our clients to provide a more hastened return on investment and increased cash flows resulting from energy conservation initiatives.

FOR GOVERNMENT ENTITIES: Of paramount importance to government entities is the fact that this benefit may be assigned to 3rd parties responsible for the projects. Efficiency Energy provides EP Act Coordination/179D Management servifes to most efficiently and economically allocate these benefits for qualifying projects and provide discounts or cash rebates to help defray upfront cost/budget allocations and/or improve project ROIs.  We provide a low-cost prgram and quality control service for energy efficient retrofits installed in government buildings.

FOR COMMERCIAL ENTITIES:

Correct calculations and documentation must be represented to qualify your deduction. Participation of a licensed Qualified Individual using DOE-approved software, the client and the client's tax advisor are necessary for proper qualifications. Efficiency Energy has thoroughly vetted providers and will provide all necessary information for your 179D-qualifying project.

Emission Offsets

While congress debates and industries fume, there do exist limited opportunities for load-shedding and emission-offseting projects.

Rebates

Many states and utility companies provide cash rebates for utilizing energy conserving products for new construction projects as well as retrofitting existing facilities. Efficiency Energy will calculate your custom and standard rebates and evaluate which incentives will be the most beneficial for you. E.E. will provide your account manager all necessary information to approve your rebate as quickly as possible. Some rebates are transferable to retrofit providers in order to lower out-of-pocket project cost. Check our links page for a resource to locate rebates available in your area.
